AfA Quality Mark Awarded
It was to a packed school hall that The Federation of Newent Schools were presented with their Achievement For All Award.
Achievement for All is an educational charity that supports schools to improve the outcomes for pupils and is based around the 3 A’s of Aspiration, Access and Achievement.
Over the last 3 years the 2 schools have worked towards achieving this award through engaging effectively with parents and carefully monitoring and supporting pupils to make good progress with their learning.
This accolade highlights the work that the school does for all children. This award recognises the schools work to improve the achievement of all pupils regardless of background, challenge or need.
Both schools are extremely proud of this achievement.
It was presented by the Regional Director, Laura Bromberg on Friday 18th December.
Mrs Griffiths received the award and said that of her 18 years as headteacher of the schools, this was her proudest moment.
This award is the first National Award that the schools have achieved since their federation 4 years ago.
We hope that is is the first of many to come.
On Tuesday 19th May the school celebrated the end of our copper collection with a visit from some real 'coppers'. The children had the chance to meet dog handlers and to explore a range of police vehicles. The day ended with a 'copper run' with all the coppers the children had collected being put into wheelbarrows and pushed by a member of staff.
A huge thank you to all the police services that came along to support our school and gave the children a brilliant experience and to all the parents who sent in their coppers to raise money for 'Picklefrogs'.
